Outlook was established in 2002 as part of the New Deal for Communities scheme to regenerate East Manchester using Single Regeneration Budget monies with a contribution from Manchester Drug and Alcohol Strategy Team.
The project was established as a three year pilot to demonstrate that the model of day service provision met the overall aim of the project:
To provide a flexible accessible and attractive service that will engage and retain problematic drug users and maximise their skills and potential for living drug-free non-problematic lives.
The Outlook model was first established by Lifeline in Huddersfield and has evolved in different areas to represent the needs of its service users and the community.
Outlooks strengths are born out of its ability to identify joint targets with a broad range of partners and this approach enables us to provide a varied programme of activities to meet both our overall needs and those of our partners.
Project Aims
-Improve the well-being of individuals who have or have experienced drug problems.
-Reduce the negative impact associated with such problems on families and communities.
-Act as a preparatory step towards mainstream education, training, employment and leisure activities.
Project Objectives
-To deliver a range of appropriate activities and interventions to cater for the diverse needs of service users.
-To work collaboratively with local providers both statutory and non-statutory, and to align with local detoxification, health, criminal justice and social and regeneration agendas.
-To be as accessible as possible to all service users regardless of ethnicity, disability, gender, sexuality etc
Outlook is funded through Manchester Drug and Alcohol Strategy Team as part of Manchesters Drug Treatment System.
